[UNIT 1] METHODS OF TRANSLATING – 1
I chose the song ”Cocktail Paradise by Yun Seokcheol & Sejin” lyric (text excerpt) for this project.
In response to the brief on the method of translating, I selected one of my favourite songs, ‘Cocktail Paradise.’ I made this choice due to the song’s unique use of cocktail names interwoven within the lyrics. The repetitive structure of the sentences resembled more of a poetic form, akin to the “text” mentioned in the brief, rather than traditional “lyrics.” I believed that the section discussing the diverse ‘Cocktail’ of drinks held the potential for various interpretations, leading to intriguing and diverse outcomes.

And then,
I do an overlapping to clearly demonstrate the intertwining of music and lyrics along with translations.
2.Parodying
A cocktail is an alcoholic mixed drink. Most commonly, cocktails are either a single spirit or a combination of spirits mixed with other ingredients, such as juices, flavoured syrups, tonic water, shrubs, and bitters. Cocktails vary widely across regions of the world, and many websites publish both original recipes and their own interpretations of older and more famous cocktails.
Generally, due to the unique ambience of a cocktail bar,
the prices tend to be quite high compared to the amount of alcohol itself.
So, I tried to parody cheaper version of the alcohol – Beer,
And talked about work not love.
That is the non-alcohol version, for kids

During these two processes, I’ve noticed that the poetic meanings/slang are being interpreted differently. So, I wanted to explore how expressions are being translated using various translation tools – Chat GPT / Google Translator / Apple Translator.
